After 45 years in the construction industry I joined Clearbell in April 2020 to be responsible for all of Clearbell’s Project Management operations. A large part of my working life until now has been at Doig+Smith, one of the UK’s longest established surveying firms, working both in Scotland and London.
I was instrumental in the front-end delivery of major projects such as the £600m New Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow and the £350m RBS World Headquarters in Gogarburn. I have also played a leading role in over £1.5 billion of commercial and residential projects in London, including several new tower developments. Project Management and Cost Consultancy have both been part of my responsibilities over the course of my career.
Bringing innovation to the business and construction industry has been important to me. I also have a track record in driving projects from the outset, bringing together teams with complementary skills to realise clients’ ambitions.
I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1986 and gained a Dip Proj Mang in 1992.
Outside of work I sing in a barbershop group and I enjoy golf, fishing and keeping fit. I am passionate about the countryside and want to keep the hills and mountains in good shape so I can take up hill walking again when I retire. There is no hurry, though. After 45 years of work I still get a buzz out of it. A little-known fact about me? I used to be a member of the mountain rescue team.
